Ford reinterprets GT styling as a foosball table, sailboat and other concepts
Though we haven't even reached the halfway point of the year, it's safe to say that the GT will stand as one of the defining car designs of 2015.. For Milan Design Week (Salone del Mobile), Mazda highlighted its Kodo Design language reincarnated as a sofa and bicycle.
In addition to the aforementioned sailboat, foosball table, guitar and furniture, designers from Ford's global studios prepared several other creations, including a wall clock, a wireless speaker and lights. If that all sounds like abstract, pseudo-artsy corporate BS to you (it does to us), you can just ignore it and enjoy the impressive light display in the video below. Ford got even more diverse, unleashing the styling of the all-new GT supercar on a varied selection of designs, from pieces of furniture, to a foosball table, to a sailboat, to a guitar.
Not content to let the GT tantalize only sports car lovers, Ford decided to treat Design Week attendees with a look at how its most cutting edge design could influence various other products. Prepared with architect Attilio Stocchi, in collaboration with Federlegno Arredo Eventi, the multi-part installation unfolded inside two large boxes. The first explored the science of light with a reflective show, and the second took a look at how Ford design shapes both form and function.

"This installation takes visitors through an unexpected discovery process that perfectly reflects Ford's philosophy that design is an emotional journey orchestrated around the customer."
Ford opened up 2015 by absolutely blowing away North American International Auto Show visitors with its all-new GT, a 600+ hp aero-optimized tour de force of automotive engineering. Specifically, Ford designed the GT cabin and the Design Week show pieces with three guiding principles in mind: innovation, function-forward "clarity of intent," and connection with the user through more compact, intuitive forms.
Beyond models of consumer goods, Ford also showed a much larger Design Week presentation in the form of its "FAVILLA, Every Light a Voice" exhibit erected in the heart of Milan. While gm parts the car's body seems like the obvious styling jumping off point, it was the interior design that informed Ford's non-automotive works. It's worth a watch, even if you don't feel like contemplating how it all ties into the Blue Oval's product and marketing strategy.

BLAG owners Sally and Sarah Edwards felt the recognition of the Joplin song with its message of triumph and a tie-in with the 125th Anniversary of Mercedes would be the perfect pairing for the jingle. We have our classic favorites, of course. They, in fact, are about to become the subject of a jingle written by Estelle, rapper David Banner and Daley.
How this came about is a bit of a mystery, but the trio has been contracted by the style magazine BLAG to write the jingle with a 1971 Janis Joplin song as their inspiration. The design team actually were inspired by two classic American designs - Airstream travel trailers and Chris Craft boats. This is a new vehicle presentation and after several months wait, I was privileged to get behind the wheel. The Chrysler 200 is competing with the Nissan Altima, Mazda 6, Honda Accord, and Ford Fusion. The overall driving experience allows a feeling of enthusiasm in movement but with a sense of rigidity for emergency handling if necessary. The Limited is expected to be the primary sales model and has a base MSRP of $23,255. The designers also utilized the Eames lounge chair, and the iPhone for inspiration, as was seen in the blend of hand-sculpted fluid shapes, materials formed wood, molded metal, and special features, Four key principles were used by the design team - make an emotional impact, high-quality materials, state-of-the-art technology, and clever storage.
The first test-drive ride was a C model, front-wheel-drive, 4 cylinder, Vivid Blue Pearl Coat. I was privileged to be among the very first group. It has a simple yet elegant coupe-like appearance with a few noticeable 'lines' that wrap around the exterior. The brakes had good response on all the models.
The base model is the LX with a starting MSRP of just $21,700. The S model is much more sporty in looks and driving and starts at $24,495. Initial reaction was that this car is quiet and handles the road really well.
The ride quality is comfortable and there is a good balance between comfort and responsiveness on sharp corners and turns. It is part of a newly named 'D' segment of mid-size sedans.
This mid-size sedan category has mushroomed lately, but it exhibits more European styling and handling than American family car history. It is a contemporary design, pleasant in appearance, and highly functional. Some might say it is at a disadvantage, but that is probably an opinion based on the previous lack-luster models. My first choice on the test-drive was the standard 2.4 liter Tigershark I-4. The rotary gear shift is conveniently located so that is instantly reachable, but does not interfere with the operation of the other technology and features. Chrysler Corporation is definitely trying to turn that around and it will not take a lot of effort to make that happen. Approximately one out of six sales is a mid-size sedan in North America, and with this re-designed entry, the Chrysler 200 should capture a large portion of that market. The C model offer many more Creature Comforts and a wide array of premium amenities with a starting price of $25,995.
The 2015 Chrysler 200 is the only mid-size sedan with a nine-speed automatic transmission that is standard equipment. I believe they have succeeded.
The mid-size sedan D segment of vehicles old chevy trucks may be highly competitive, but this new 2015 Chrysler 200 came ready to play. My initial reaction was reserved, but it is easy to use and grew on me during the ride. The S model had some extra add-on's that set the bottom sticker price at $33,470.

It was prominent at the Chicago Auto Show. After short presentations by engineers and public relations personnel, we paired off and left on our day-long journey of about 250 miles. The electric-assist power steering is good and very precise, although not quite as smooth and fluid as was expected. It is controlled using a rotary dial instead of a traditional styled shift lever. The V-6 was my test-drive for the afternoon portion of the event, after having tested the 4-cylinder during the morning. Mid-size sedans is the largest new vehicle segment in the United States. Now let's talk on how GM Parts AC Delco Parts versus price on Aftermarket Auto Parts. You have your high end discount auto parts that are pricey for the reason that they will work, as to your cheap ass auto parts that are made really cheap and I mean real cheap.

As for the Independent shops they will more than likely use aftermarket auto parts for your auto and truck that would tend to be cheaper and of poor quality with probably a 90 day warranty as for your General Motors Part with a 1 year warranty actually made for the vehicle itself, maybe a little more expensive but well worth the purchase price.
You take your vehicle to your local General Motors Dealership for service you are going to have certified technicians work on your vehicle that have access to General Motors Technical Service Bulletins Campaigns at their fingertips, as if you take it to an independent shops that doesn't have access to this information as easily.
So you are having auto or truck issues. But whenever possibly I always use Genuine GM Parts or ACDelco parts. When I have to I will use aftermarket parts they really aren't all that bad.

I've hit the 1,500 mile mark on my new F80, so I guess it's time to type out some of my thoughts on the car. The performance difference doesn't even come close to warranting the extra cash that needs to be given up, but... Both of them have an artificial enhancement to get sound into the cabin, but for some reason I turn my nose up at BMW's solution and applaud Porsche's. My OCD tendencies won't allow me to rest until every last detail is done, so this time I learned to take it slowly.
I am very pleased with the contrast of the two opposite exterior designs of the cars. Washing my wheels is a dream!
Chrome! Call me new school, but I hate chrome. If you look at the pattern of car purchases in my past, it would make sense that I much prefer the snappy response of a naturally aspirated engine. You have the practical, "family" Sedan versus the pure-bread sports car, so I'll approach this more from a form standpoint rather than function. This car doesn't rev nearly as fast as its NA V8 predecessor, so this makes it much easier to handle the car at redline than before. The M5s were rolling almost into the grass. I thought I would hate the HK system. When I picked up the M3 from the Performance Center and spent a day and a half driving through mountain and back roads home to Central Florida, I started to question why anyone would spend so much more on a Porsche. I think that's a good thing.

The sound these cars make could not be any different. I won't be upgrading the system in the M3. I'm really surprised as I thought I would chevrolet truck accessories it be a toss-up which car I wanted to drive more. The M3 wins the function part hands down. Now I have Sport PASM, but I could imagine most older gentleman that buy these cars would not take kindly to the aggressive factory suspension settings. Since an early age, I knew I wanted one, but I hadn't ever actually driven it. I won't be tracking either car, so being connected to the car by a manual transmission is more important to me than being a few tenths of a second faster. It doesn't sound bad, it just sounds weird. I certainly feel good about both interiors. This makes sense as the 991 was designed several years ago. Off the line, I think it would be much easier to win in the C2S due to weight over the rear wheels. I want to desire to behind the wheel. Being 400ish lb. That, and it is has a much shorter, more direct gate to 2nd gear. The reason I decided against doing full leather again is that I hardly notice it in the Porsche. Whatever that means...
The paint is really, really good on the M3. The M3 is good, but the 911 is epic.. But, I'm an audio junkie and have found the HK to be surprising good in comparison. Whether it is at a hotel stay or buying a computer, I want to feel a connection. This Porsche 911, an "S" model with the X51 power kit option is rated at 430hp from a 3.8 liter boxer (horizontally opposed) 6 cylinder. It is in the right spot for the best shifting position.
As I tend to do, I was obsessing about how good a job the Performance Center was going do at prepping the car. lighter, the 911 seems to stop more effortlessly. It offends my sense of intelligence. The 6MT in the F80 is much improved over the E92, but it still pretty much sucks. The only thing better about the M3 is the diameter of the steering wheel, but I'm not sure the fat wheel would work in the 911. It just gives the aura of an ever so slightly out-dated look. Don't get me wrong, I loved the blue, but I think this Mineral White is something special. I've had a few little squeaks while lightly braking and turning the wheel, but they have been silent otherwise. Being newly designed, the M3 obviously wins in this department. F80 M3:
To compare the two cars, the CCBs on the M3 are great, but braking is where you really notice the size and weight difference of the two cars. In looking at the design of the two, I'm guessing the 911 seats are a crap load lighter as well. The Porsche is smoother, yet provides a more mechanical feel; has shorter, faster throws; and is better positioned in the car. I wouldn't want to live without either one. I'm not sure I have the words to describe the difference in experience between the two cars, but I'm going to try.

Interior
This is a little tougher to compare. I opted for full leather in the 911, but only chose Extended in the M3. I will say I was a bit afraid the M3 would make me regret spending so much more on the 911. I think I'd have to give the M3 a slight edge overall, but they are both very nice.
I thought I'd approach my comments as more of a comparison rather than just copy what others have said about the car. The write-up was deservedly well received and considered spot-on.

Handling is another no contest. I am fortunate enough to have both a 2014 "991" 911 and 2015 F80 M3 in my garage at the same time. As a side note, the overdrive ratio for the Porsche starts with 6th gear. The M3 is very good for what it is, but I almost get the sense that BMW engineers artificially made the car ride rougher to instill the sense of a connection with the road. You won't be sorry. Again, it's not great, but it's good enough. The angular dimensions, aggressive fenders, and carbon fiber roof of the M3 differs greatly from the smooth curves and carefully crafted layout of the 911. I purposely hadn't seen one in person prior to heading to the Performance Center to pick mine up. I was shocked at how taught and stiff the car was. I ordered the CCBs on the M3 primarily due to the cleanliness of them. The C2S provides all the right feedback while the M3 gives me a bit too much while still feeling a bit more numb. The car felt so balanced and light on its feet. The cars are different enough that they cover enough of a design spectrum to appeal to my personality. Now you may think this would be laughable, and it pretty much is. I've read the articles from BMW about their new system in the F8X platform being the best in the world. I'm not saying it's bad. Having metal dome tweeters, I assumed it would be harsh sounding. It would feel too big. All I needed to do was a finishing polish and wax, and the paint was jeweled and flawless.
Exterior
I was a little surprised that the M3 doesn't look as big as I thought it would. I will be ordering CCBs on any future car despite the cost. When I first got the 911 I had zero experience with driving the car. I'm 6'2" and was pleasantly surprised that I can sit behind my driver's seat that is positioned properly for me and my knees barely touch the back of the seat.

Recently a member of 6speedonline.com shared his experience with his brand new 2015 BMW M3 sedan and his 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S. I must say though, parked next to the Porsche in the garage, it looks smaller than I expected. Well in my novice opinion, they are a distant second. Although, my three year-old son can sit in the back of the 911, it won't be long before he's too big. So is the 911 worth that much more than the M3? I believe so. Throttle response is the part that really gets me in a comparison. This generation of the M3 is referred to the F80 and the latest 911 is the 991. The fake sound the M3 is a little offensive. I only took a short test drive before ordering. Although, I am starting to get used to and really enjoy the flood of torque and whistle of the spooling turbos while in the M car.

So I'm a huge fan of both cars. I wouldn't order full leather again on a 911.
Unlike my E92 where I had a dozen parts waiting on the car for install, this time I decided to keep the car stock for a month or so before doing any modifications. Also, I don't detect any notchiness. Even though the 911 may outperform, I much prefer the look and feel of the M3 brakes. Like I said the 911 leather is nicer and the fit and finish it a little better, but I think that would be expected at its price point. I'm a Honda raised car guy, and the S2000 has spoiled me. Dare I say, I actually use the Nav in the M3 where the 911 I break out the iPhone.
Since we are on the subject of Technology, let's talk Burmester versus HK. I was surprised by this one. The Burmester is much better, but the HK holds isn't bad. So no full leather in the M3, and I'm not disappointed. There is no rust, basically no dust, and they look awesome. I've never been so excited about paint before.
The Experience
I'm a sucker for the experience. The C2S is much, much better. The only piece of chrome on the 911 was the badge. I not sure which car is faster. I promise.
M. I think the car sounds okay from the outside, but I only hope an aftermarket exhaust will make it substantially better. Moreland
The gearbox in comparison to the 911 is really no contest. The C2S begs me to do this, and the M3 makes me feel as though I can but don't need to do so. I decided to follow the proper break in procedure and have kept the car below 5,500 RPMs, other than hitting the dyno for a baseline run just before doing have the first service done.
6MT Versus 7MT
I'm still a row through the gears kind of guy. I was stressing about this while waiting for my car to show-up, but I'm glad I didn't check the box. The 911 springs into immediate action, while the M3 eventually breaks your neck. I've grown to become a huge fan of the sound the C2S makes. After looking at the measurements, I thought it would look and feel large. I really notice this on my neighborhood road. You push the pedal in the M3 and you just don't get the same reaction from the car. They make me smile every time I walk up to the car. THE EXPERIENCE AND VISCERAL CONNECTION ONE GETS FROM THE 911 IS WORTH EVERY EXTRA PENNY! I almost can't put a price on the experience the 911 gives me. It is cheap and, frankly, makes the car look old. My Le Mans Blue E92 paint was not great. I love them both in very different ways. If you are on the fence like I was, spend the money. The 911 steel brakes make a bunch of noise, squeaking, and squealing. As far as how they work, the braking exercise at the Performance Center to teach how to turn while ABS is engaged was a waste of time. The chaos of backfires and scream at WOT was very different. Both are fast and perform amazingly well, but the C2S easily wins this for me. I jumped in the driver's seat of the C2S, started it up, and immediately knew this was no comparison. The brakes were so good that we were stopping twenty feet before the turn. Most dealerships totally massacre the paint, adding tons of scratches and swirls. That being said, the stiffness is not rough and the overall balance is so wonderful that I can't put it into words. Dare I say it is almost as good as the Porsche? There is more orange peel, but the Mineral White is one of my favorite things about the car. I've read how great the new seats are in the M3, but the Porsche seats are worlds better. I will say coming from the very organized sounding S65, the 911 took some getting used to. I was immediately in love and began to forget what the 911 felt like.

I am pleased with the nice touches like deviated stitching on the door panels at no extra cost in the M3.
In contrast, I think the sound symposer in the 911 is genius and really appreciate it. One very notable aspect of this review is they both have manual transmissions! The BMW is a six speed manual but the Porsche has a 7 speed manual. Don't get me wrong, the torque of the M3 is way cool, but the car doesn't respond the same to putting your foot down. The only knock on the 911 is that the shifter does block the A/C and radio controls, but I don't care. Of the many virtues of the M3 the sounds it makes are not one of them.
I will certainly say that if someone were to hold up two sets of keys and ask, "Which one?" I'm taking the P-Car!
The seats and seating position are really no comparison. It would scratch super easily, was prone to water etching, and generally gave me nothing but headaches. It is rather smooth but is just a bit numb for my liking.
Now it's time to talk about the important stuff, throttle response/power delivery. Why in the world would BMW do black trim all over the car and then put chrome grills/gills on this thing? Oh well, easy (rather expensive) fix.
Let's start with steering. This may sound insane, but I really feel like the look of these two cars fit me as a person. The 7 speed in the Corvette is a 1:1 in 4th and 5th is an overdrive.
The first thought that came to mind when I started thinking about comparing the two interiors was that the 911 feels very 2011 and the M3 has the technology that makes it much more current. I thought to myself that I've never had a leather dash before, and I've been okay. It is very additive to the experience of driving the car versus the M3's sound being a negative.

M. So call me ridiculous, but the detail freak in me will never be able to get normal rotors again. Again, it's hard to explain. Well, they did a really great job. Again, it's no contest.
First some background. The leather is also much better in the Porsche. It just doesn't suck enough to make me complain about it every time I drive the car. It is very conservatively rated at 425hp with a twin turbo in-line 6 cylinder 3 liter engine
